Safeway is reviewing proposals for a new online delivery service just weeks after pulling the plug on its online Wine Direct and local Collect service. Safeway property and finance director Simon Laffin said: "We are looking at introducing a new Safeway online offer but there are no immediate plans." According to Laffin, the new web facility could be used to service deliveries of bulky non food items as Safeway rolled out its hypermarket format. He said Safeway was very pleased with its first hypermarket in Plymouth, which is the first of its stores to sell non food. Safeway plans to open 12 in the next financial year and eventually proposes 30. Progress is also being made on a discount format. {{NEWS }}
