Sainsbury is expecting a major sales boost through its beers, wines and spirits fixture towards the end of the year. It has some bullish forecasts and wine director Allan Cheesman believes there is room for optimism and says his forward planning is taking account of this. First signs are its biggest wine discount programme launched under the banner of the Autumn Wine Fair which began this week and runs until the beginning of November. The discounting opened with 20% off all South American wines for a fortnight. During the following two weeks there will be a 20% cut on French wines and for the final two weeks champagne will have the same treatment. Sainsbury will also be running instore tastings on 30 wines as well as competitions on a range of products. {{DRINKS }}
