Sainsbury’s has completed its 14-month search for a marketing director with the capture of Mastercard’s Mark Horgan.
Horgan, who is MD of Mastercard’s Access Prepaid Worldwide subsidiary, will start in his new position “within the next six months”. He will lead customer insights and loyalty, brand communications and non-food marketing in his new role. The remit was previously handled by Gwyn Burr who became customer service and colleague director last July.
“Sainsbury’s is renowned as a brand with an innovative, exciting approach to marketing,” Horgan said. His appointment comes just weeks after the retailer announced it was parting company with Jamie Oliver. It has already run a successful ad campaign for its Feed Your Family for £50 meal planner without him. Celeb chef Lorraine Pascale has been touted as a replacement.
