Sainsbury’s is limbering up for this year’s Sport Relief.
The retailer is stocking a range of merchandise in its stores to help shoppers raise money for the event, which kicks off on Friday. It includes Union Jack inspired Sport Relief socks made with Fairtrade cotton - as modelled by The Saturdays (left) - water bottles, shopping bags, clappers, sweatbands and wristbands.
Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King also joined in this week with his own Sport Relief Mile Challenge. He toured 32 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, running a mile alongside Sainsbury’s store staff at sporting locations close to the stores. He started on Wednesday at Casement Park in Belfast and was due to complete his challenge in Cambridge today.
“In 2010, our customers and colleagues helped us raise a massive £5.4m for Sport Relief and with the great fundraising activities many of our stores already have planned, we’re hoping to try and beat that target this year,” King said.
