Beer giant Scottish & Newcastle has unveiled new environmentally friendly plastic packaging for three of its biggest brands.
Four, eight and 12-can packs of Foster's, Kronenbourg 1664 and Strongbow will now feature the new lighter outer packaging made of plastic film. The plastic will replace the drinks' original cardboard packs, in a move S&N claims will also enable the packs to be chilled faster in refrigerators.
The format marked S&N's first move into film packaging, said Shaun Heyes, S&N UK head of customer marketing for off-trade.
"This provides the opportunity to meet demand for less packaging and added convenience," he said. "It also gives us more flexibility to create eye-catching designs."
The new packs will be rolled out from this month for Kronenbourg and from July and August for Foster's and Strongbow.
