Schwan's Consumer Brands has spent £10m on revamping its production facilities in Leyland, Lancashire.
The maker of Chicago Town and Freschetta pizza brands said the site, which opened in 1989, produces 400,000 Chicago Town Pizzas a day. The new investment is intended to boost production, especially of Chicago Town Pizza Bites.
The move comes as Heinz announces it is stopping UK pizza production. Schwan's European marketing controller Ben Johnson said Pizza Bites occupied a different sector to traditional 9in pizzas, hit hard by overcapacity in the market.
In contrast, Johnson said Chicago Town Deep Dish pizzas, including Pizza Bites, had seen 6% growth year-on-year, ahead of the market.
"The success of Pizza Bites has been phenomenal with listings already achieved with the five top retailers."
