Consumer demand for Scotch Whisky was again boosted by exports to Asia in 2005 with both South Korea and Taiwan now featuring in the top five export markets by value.

The overall value of Scotch Whisky exports was up 4% on 2004, reaching £2.36bn, with the US remaining the largest market by value with £372m, according to new figures from the Scotch Whisky Association.

But exports to Asia were up 24% overall. Taiwan experienced growth of 24% to £102m, while there was also strong demand from China, Thailand and South Korea.
