Scottish red meat producers are facing a hike in levy fees in a bid to improve marketing and promotion.
Cabinet secretary Richard Lochhead last month green-lighted proposals from Quality Meat Scotland to increase the levy on beef and lamb.
"Today's announcement will allow QMS's marketing and promotion expenditure to return to over £2.5m and maintain industry development spend at over £1m," said QMS chairman Donald Biggar.
There has been no indication so far that it will lead to price increases.
