Scottish and Newcastle has reported a 13.9% increase in full-year pre-tax profit to £452m on sales up 7% at £4.155bn.

In the UK, S&N's main beer brands Foster's, Kronenbourg 1664 and John Smith's all gained market share, while there was also strong growth at the premium end of the cider market.

The brewer also plans to cut costs by £50m over the next three years through its production and distribution facilities and back office activities.
