The company is launching a new range of bacon that will initially comprise two lines - Dry Cured Hickory Smoked Back Bacon and Dry Cured Hickory Smoked Streaky Bacon. Each comes in a 225g pack and is expected to sell at about £2.99.
Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, owner and founder of The Black Farmer brand, said: “At the moment consumers do not expect much from the bacon they buy in supermarkets so I want to stir it up a bit and bring value back to the category.”
Emmanuel-Jones said that he was in talks with a number of major multiples with a view to getting the bacon products listed. He added that, should his bacon prove successful, he would look into the possibility of introducing a premium wet cure addition to the range.
