A Californian sparkling wine has been combined with ginseng to create La Dame de Shanghai. The brand is produced by Tonic Wines and Beers of San Francisco and handled in the UK by Weird Pop. Ginseng is believed to be a stimulant that promotes a feeling of wellbeing. The company hopes to capitalise on its stimulating qualities in the run up to St Valentine's Night. A spokesman said La Dame would also be aimed at the Chinese community, health conscious drinkers, and ginseng users. He maintained the sparkler was not a gimmick. The brand retails at £19.95, which is double the price of quality sparkling wine and on a par with mainstream champagnes. The launch will be supported by sampling and direct mail. {{DRINKS }}
