After three weeks of missing out on the top spot, Tesco came through with a winning basket this week ( 43.75). Its Innocent smoothie and Jordan's Country Crisp (both 2) were the cheapest, as was its naan bread (55p).
Asda held on to the top spot this week with a basket costing 2.40 less than its closest rival. Bargain brie at 4.75/kg, naan bread at 55p and sweet potatoes at 1.24/kg contributed to the win, as did seven round-pound deals.
Turnover at privately owned naan bread and flatbread producer Honeytop Speciality Foods grew 11% to 20m in the year to 30 June, despite a slowdown in the UK's Indian food market, it said.
