NZ exports to EU increase New Zealand sheepmeat exports, both lamb and mutton, to the European Union are increasing in the wake of the UK's foot and mouth disease outbreak. The Meat Industry Association says that New Zealand delivered a total of 157,000 tonnes of sheepmeat to the EU  the UK included  in the first half of this year. This represented a 9.5% rise on a year ago. Landings of lamb in the UK within that total were down 2.3%; mutton rose 6.5%. Exports of chilled lamb to the EU markets increased 13% to a total of 22,000t, with chilled sales to the UK 6% higher than last year. {{M/E MEAT }}
