A 35-strong delegation from Shetland’s aquaculture industry this week visited the Aqua Nor show in Norway to explore ways of boosting the industry.

General manager of Shetland Salmon Farmers’ Association, David Sandison, and chairman Karl Scott, together with representatives from Shetland Development Trust, met the Norwegian Fish Farmers Association and the Directorate of Fisheries.

Sandison said: “Shetland’s aquaculture industry is currently under extreme pressure and we are anxious to find a way to move on from such difficult times.

“We need to work with our colleagues in in the international industry to achieve a sustainable future.”

Shetland Development Trust gathered information to underpin an investment strategy for Shetland’s aquaculture industry.
