Short supply continues in some sectors of the bacon market while prices are on the rise.
Danish traders reported a slight increase on backs this week and said gammons had also maintained their volumes, but said they were still waiting to see if they'd get any increase on legs. Demand was described as being very strong.
The Dutch, meanwhile, are still struggling to get margin, despite price rises.
One trader said raw material costs had also gone up and, with the Dutch prices restrained by the Danes, margins were being squeezed.
Supply also remains tight, although some traders said it was well balanced with supply. The recent changes in weather may well have an impact.
