The bacon markets are again being described as firm this week. Lack of supply continues to have an effect on all areas and both the Dutch and Danes increased prices again last week.

Danish traders said the price rise was to bring them more into the line with the rest of Europe, but that demand had dropped a little in response. One said the price is likely to stay firm before possibly rising again at about the end of September.

The Dutch meanwhile described trade as good, although raw material was scarce. The high prices were leading to weekly orders on bulk, said one.
