Coors said off-trade volume growth of Grolsch surged 64% during the summer and put it down to its “comprehensive range” of different size bottles and multi-packs.

According to Coors the brand outperformed all its competitors in July and August to claim the number two spot in the premium lager league table, behind Stella Artois

Grolsch UK brand director, Andy Gray, said in Scotland it had doubled its market share to become “one of the best performing lager brands”.

He added: “The brand’s volume growth over this period has put it in an excellent position to make further gains in the run-up to christmas and beyond into 2003.”
