Welsh brewery Brains is targeting the off-trade in England for growth in 2008.

The company has put Brains Bitter, SA, SA Gold and Continental-style 45, which it believes will suit English palates, into bottles to tap into the growth in take-home alcohol.

"Consumers in Wales are demanding local products and we are meeting that demand. However, we are also looking outside South Wales and seeking more stockists across the border," said Richard Davies, sales and marketing director.

"Brands such as SA Gold and The Rev James, our biggest-selling ale in English pubs, will be suitable."
