Diageo has unveiled a raft of innovative new additions to its Smirnoff, Baileys and premix ranges .

Lime and Green Apple flavours of Smirnoff vodka, rsp £13.75, will join regular Smirnoff Red and Blue Label vodka from the summer after a six-month trial in Bristol supermarkets last year.

The vodka is blended with natural lime and green apple flavours to make vodka mixer drinks "more exciting".

"The Smirnoff trial in Bristol recorded double-digit sales growth for the whole vodka category," said Steve Hamilton, innovation commercialisation director.

Growing consumer enthusiasm for premix cans has prompted Diageo to introduce three additions to its current range. Morgan's Spiced & Cola, Smirnoff Vodka & Schweppes tonic and Bulleit Bourbon & Cola, rsp £1.64, will line up alongside premixes launched last year, including Gordon's Gin & Schweppes Slimline Tonic, to extend the range to a total of seven variants.

"Premix drinks are all about giving consumers a quick 'instant evening' feeling and are a definite growth category," said Hamilton.

The premix range will roll out nationally from April. The three-strong Baileys flavours, including Baileys with a Hint of Crème Caramel, will also be available to all grocery retailers from this month, following pre-Christmas trials.
