The launch of the Hot Tomato and Smokey Bacon lines, with 7% and 8% fat respectively, is timed to coincide with the beach body season and summer holidays. The variants have been launched on the back of strong sales in the meat-flavoured snacks category, with 8.6% of consumers only ever buying the BBQ-flavoured Snack-a-Jack.
The company said research had shown herbs, spice and meaty flavours were popular among female shoppers, although the variants could also appeal to men. The new lines will be rolled out to stores from the end of July.
The move comes after berry and sweet chilli variants were added to the brand in May, alongside a packaging overhaul.
