Irn-Bru brand owner AG Barr has reported another strong quarter of sales growth.
The Scottish soft drinks company said sales were up 5.2% in the 15 weeks to 11 May – boosted by increased marketing support for its core brands and sustained promotional investment.
It said the growth in sales was underpinned by strong volume performance and that margins were in line with expectations.
AG Barr also announced that chairman Ronnie Hanna would be retiring at the end of the year. He has served 11 years on the board and five as chairman.
Former Heineken executive John Nicolson will take over as chairman. He is currently a senior independent non-executive director at the company.
Analysts said the latest trading figures showed that AG Barr was growing ahead of the market.
“We expect AG Barr to continue to deliver against its organic growth strategy and should benefit from its sponsorship of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow later this year,” said Panmure analyst Damian McNeela.
