The sparkling rosé market is the target for wine brand extensions as producers take advantage of the growth in both the spark­ling and rosé sectors.

Pernod Ricard UK is launching a product under its Spanish wine brand Campo Viejo, priced at £6.99 a bottle, which will go on sale in Sainsbury's from 18 September.

"We developed Gran Campo Viejo Cava Brut Rosé following the great success we had with Cava Brut last year and because we identified an opportunity in the market to marry our expertise in sparkling wine with the consumer appetite for rosé," said wine development director Adrian Atkinson. "This new addition to the Campo Viejo range is targeted primarily at women aged between 25 and 45."

The total off-trade spark­ ling wine market is worth £238m, up 9% for the year ending 12 August 2006, according to ACNielsen.

The rosé market is up by 34% compared with the previous year.
