Spar has appointed Andy Davenport as trading manager, proprietary brands, and Ian Florey as trading manager, Spar brand. Davenport worked at United Co-op's Wythenshawe office as a core grocery buyer for 18 months. Before that he worked for Dhamecha in Wembley as a beers, wines and spirits buyer. Florey moves from Unwins where he was New World Wines buyer. Spar will also be appointing a group trading director to whom Davenport and Florey will report. The position will be based at Spar's Central Office in Harrow and the group is offering a six-figure salary to the successful candidate. Spar claims it has already had a "heavyweight response" to press advertisements for the role. Spar md Morton Middleditch said: "Spar has in excess of £2bn annual turnover, in addition to which we can boast increased retail disciplines. We are investing in new personnel within our trading function in order to capitalise further on our long-held position as leader in the convenience sector." {{PEOPLE MOVES }}
