All but two baskets came back full as our shoppers focused on 10 items from the fruit and veg areas and chiller cabinets this week.
Asda was cheapest at £7.57, but our shopper was sent in three different directions by members of staff when they were asked to help find the coleslaw. The store had the best price for New Covent Garden ‘soup of the month’ at £1.68 but it took some time to find it among all the other variants. NCG at Sainsbury was flagged up with a half-price offer on a second carton. Morrisons did not stock NCG but staff offered the chain’s own label chilled soups at 99p and £1.29. Waitrose’s English carrots were the cheapest available. An orange ranged in price from 19p at Asda to 29p at the Co-op and Somerfield which had no scales in the fresh produce area.
