Premier Foods is preparing to "renovate" some of the brands it gains in its acquisition of RHM , which completes on 16 March.

Brands such as Hovis, Mr Kipling and Bisto will join the Premier stable as a result of the deal. "It's not going to be any shock to us if we have to renovate brands, but I don't think work is needed everywhere," said chief finance officer Paul Thomas."Over the years we have bought brands that are going backwards - such as Campbell's - and our job was to renovate them."

Premier reported a 12.2% rise in pre-tax profit to £58.1m on turnover up 21.5% to £959.4m on 2006.
