The Jersey Royal Co will next week make its debut on national television, in a campaign notably free of “Hollywood starlets”.
The potato supplier will launch its push during Coronation Street on 25 April, marking a rare TV foray for the ultra-versatile vegetable.
In 2009 Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross famously led a campaign for Albert Bartlett’s Rooster potatoes that helped sales of the brand skyrocket.
“The television advert marks an exciting time in the evolution of the Jersey Royal Co brand, business and strategy as a whole,” said managing director Tom Binnet.
“Since our range launch last year, the products have been extremely well received, resulting in additional listings throughout Tesco, The Co Operative Group and Ocado.
“The aim of the advert is simply to highlight the taste, tradition and quality of The Jersey Royal Co potatoes – as opposed to Hollywood starlets. In any case, Charlie Sheen was too busy.”
