The quiet before the storm could be one way to describe the bacon markets this week.

British traders reported trade as extremely firm with strong demand, while the Dutch and the Danes said there had been little change since last week, with business remaining fairly steady.

All sectors of the trade are now waiting for the Christmas sales bonanza to kick in and Dutch traders are anticipating some price rises over the coming few weeks.

The Danes said they were still waiting for the Christmas orders to roll in.
