The small but growing segment of Fairtrade wine in the UK has a new player from South Africa.

Two Fairtrade wines from Stellar Organics - a Merlot and a Chenin Blanc - are now exclusively available in the UK through Booker Cash & Carry. The Stellar Winery, based in Namaqualand, is South Africa's first Fairtrade and organic winery, according to the company. It was established in 2002 by the four Rossouw brothers, set up as a joint venture with a local farmers' group, and it was awarded Fairtrade status in 2004. Workers now own 26% of the shares.

The wines, which retail at £3.65 each, will be imported into the UK by Ehrmanns.
