You scored top marks for shop service. What is the secret? It’s quite simple. You have to start every day thinking ‘what would our customers want?’ and make every decision on that basis.

Can you think of a good example of good service? I’ve had fantastic feedback on our Market Street counters, including a recent order we did for a big 60th birthday party. They ordered two big £30 shellfish platters but my team went out of their way to make them look amazing, adding extra dressings, that sort of thing.

Morrisons is bringing back paper bags in its fruit & veg aisles. What will customers think? The feedback already from people who have seen this in the media shows it’s really important to them. We’ve already been offering people a chance to bring in containers to take away prepared food and that’s started to take off. I think the paper bags will add a bit of theatre and will really work with the Market Street concept.

How have wonky fruit & veg sales been going? Again, the feedback has been very positive - not just about us tackling food waste, but because of the quality of the product.

Has the heatwave hit Wales and has it helped sales? It’s been fantastic. The summer eating range in store is fantastic and again I think the Market Street feature allows us to really make the best of the good weather. Customers can come and get fresh food for the barbecue made up at our butcher counter.

Has the World Cup boosted sales? The World Cup is such a great event. It would have been even bigger if Wales had made it but we’ve got a whole range of really good deals. There is a great pizza offer for people watching the games and we’ve also got beer promotions.

Have you been hit by the C02 crisis? Thankfully, thus far we have not been affected. Our supply chain has stood up really well and it’s not had an impact on availability.
