UK strawberries could end up playing a vital role in the US space mission to Mars.
Leading grower Peter Vinson is working with scientists at NASA to trial two varieties for their potential ability to be cultivated in space. He said the scientists wanted the Everest and Evie 3 varieties for their ability to grow in low light levels.
“They are undergoing trials in weightless conditions,” said Vinson. “We’ll have to wait and see if they are successful.”
