The T&G has warned that there could be a shortage of turkeys this Christmas after workers at Bernard Matthews voted to take strike action over pay.
T&G said 1,300 members across three sites in East Anglia had been angered by a below-inflation pay rise of 2%. A one-day strike was due to take place on 15 November. The union said turkey supplies to Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons could be hit.
Bernard Matthews claimed just 27% of T&G members working for the company - 12% of its workforce - had voted in favour of a strike. It warned lost business could lead to job cuts.
