Morrisons continues to deliver strong growth, with like-for-like sales up 2.4% for the 13 weeks to 30 October.
Total sales excluding fuel were up 4.6% for the period, and the retailer claimed it had welcomed record numbers of shoppers, delivering growth ahead of the market.
Morrisons opened 10 new stores during the quarter, including its second M-local convenience store, and said it was on track to meet its target of adding 600,000 sq ft of new space during the year.
Reporting its third-quarter results, Morrisons did not give any further update on its key strategic initiatives such as the development of an online offer, own-label relaunch and lab store trials.
Further updates on these would be given at its preliminary results next March, the retailer said.
