of waffle Birds Eye's flagship potato brand Waffles is to get a £1.6m round of summer spending and a new addition to the waffly versatile' offering. The press, poster and radio campaign will aim to remind consumers that Waffles are tasty, convenient and versatile as well as introducing new smoky BBQ, hickory flavour. On sale from this month, they will go into freezers alongside the existing offering for four to six months, said the company. A 15 for the price of 12 pack of original Waffles will be available next month. Birds Eye spokesman James Simmons said: "This launch not only delivers a tasty and smart twist on a great product, it also demonstrates how innovation really injects excitement into a category." The company is also taking a change of tack on its Oven Bake Potato Fritters with 650g bags (rsp: £1.49) replacing existing 900g bags (£1.99) to "meet core consumer needs". {{P&P }}
