McCain is trying to get more people tucking into tatties with a range of innovations based around healthy and premium potato offerings.
A new addition is Sumthings, number shapes made from real mashed potato, which contain no added salt and are made with sunflower oil.
Cooked from frozen in the oven, they are going on shelf in Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Iceland in 500g packs (rsp: £1.09) and are part of a wider
move by McCain to produce healthier products.
Other autumn NPD includes Groovy Wedges, an addition to the Wedges range with a crispy bite, and limited-edition Aromatic Thai Spice Wedges (both rsp: £1.35 for 750g). Both will be supported in the £2.5m ‘Do something different with a potato’ TV and press campaign.
Herby Roasts (rsp: £1.49 for 750g), Cajun Curly Fries (£1.64 for 750g) and microwaveable Chippy Chips (99p for 180g) complete the new line-up. The Home Roasts packaging now highlights the fact they are now made with sunflower oil.
