Thai supermarket chain Central Food Retail Company is to trial a number of smaller British brands following a buying event in London.

Central Food Retail buyer Nick Reitmeier said he was interested in trialling 80% of the 29 brands that were on show at a UKTI-organised Thailand Meet the Buyer event last week, including Taylors of Harrogate and Gü Puds.

“We’ve been impressed with just how creative British producers are both in terms of their product and their packaging,” he said.

Central Food Retail already stocks British products in all of its 220 stores in Thailand and is now looking to add to the range with more artisan products.
