Sco-Fro Foods has taken a stake in its first canning factory in Europe. The company has signed a deal with Italian canner Società Produzioni Alimenti and the investment will be used to help finance a baked bean line at the Italian company's 78,000 sq m site in Teano, near Naples. The Italian factory has British Retail Consortium approval. Grocery division sales and marketing director Sonja Stewart said: "This exclusive partnership will strengthen our position in the canned market and will ensure that our customers continue to receive a high quality and competitively priced supply." Sco-Fro supplies UK multiples and the independents through buying groups with own label canned pasta, beans, tomatoes and fruit cocktail. It has four factories in Scotland which are all for seafood, one in partnership with West Coast Seafoods. The company also has partnership in a factory in Malaysia and another in China. {{NEWS }}
