Speculation is mounting that Unigate is eyeing up chilled and prepared food specialist Hazlewood Foods in a bid to expand its convenience foods offering. And rumours that it is planning to hive off its struggling pork processing business Malton Foods will fuel the speculation further, said one management consultant. "Hazlewood has a very attractive portfolio on convenience food," said one analyst.
