2 Sisters has created a new cakes division as it eyes £3bn sales by 2015.
The cakes division will incorporate all of 2 Sisters’ chilled desserts, cakes and puddings operations, giving the category - which had not been core for the company prior to last year’s acquisition of Northern Foods - “absolute focus”, said a company spokesman.
Veepul Patel, previously FD for Northern’s chilled division, will head up the new segment as divisional director.
2 Sisters is still mulling a possible disposal of the Brookes Avana own-label Christmas puddings business it bought from Premier Foods last year after the Office of Fair Trading raised concerns over competition.
The Boparan Holdings-owned company has also recruited Olivier Goudineau to the role of MD, India, as it develops a joint venture in the country to boost its international footprint. Goudineau was most recently general manager of Algerian food producer Cevital Group.
Andy Stapley has been promoted to the new role of divisional director for UK poultry.
Group HR director Kirsty Derry said the latest appointments and last year’s non-executive hires to the board marked “a significant investment in the food industry”.
The company would be using internal academies to nurture home-grown talent and for the first time this year a graduate scheme to attract fresh candidates, she added.
“We became a new, broader food group on 7 April last year and with that came a real sense of change and ambition to support our 2015 target.”
