The Health Lottery has been cleared over complaints that its ads are misleading and that front page articles in owner Richard Desmond’s Daily Express and Star were advertorials.

The Advertising Standards Authority found that excluding the words “up to” when promoting its £100,000 top prize was not misleading, as the chances that THL would not be able to pay the top price was only 0.0096%.

It also found it was outside its remit to investigate complaints about the newspaper articles.
