SAB Miller has named European boss Alan Clark as its next chief executive.
Clark will take over from Graham Mackay in 2013, after serving for a year as chief operating officer.
Mackay, meanwhile, is stepping up to become group chairman. The move will be seen as controversial, as corporate governance guidelines recommend against senior executives going on to the chair the same company.
Mackay has been at the helm of SAB for a decade. He will become executive chairman in July for a year before switching to a non-executive capacity.
He replaces outgoing chair Meyer Kahn, who is retiring after more than 40 years with the Grolsch and Peroni brewer.
