Mars is among the exhibitors at the ‘Make It In Great Britain’ campaign being held at London’s Science Museum this week.

Organisers say the exhibition – opened by business secretary Vince Cable – would “dispel the myth that the UK doesn’t make anything anymore”.

The confectionery giant will present its ‘Bean to bar’ story showing how a Mars bar evolves from cocoa beans from Cote d’Ivoire to the production line in Slough.

“Manufacturing is a vital part of the UK’s economy,” said Cable.

“Perceptions of the industry are outdated and need to change if we are going to attract the talent to support manufacturing in the long term.

“Both government and industry have a role to play, which is why we launched the Make it in Great Britain campaign and are hosting this exhibition.”
