Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight is set to kick off tomorrow, with hundreds of events taking place throughout the country.

Activity will include special menus being offered at food outlets in Edinburgh airport, which handles 25,000 passengers each day.

The fortnight offered the perfect opportunity to shout from the rooftops about Scotland’s fantastic food and drink, according to Scotland Food & Drink chief executive James Withers.

“We are blessed to be living amongst one of the world’s finest natural larders and Scotland has a wealth of talented people – from chefs to the producers themselves – making the most of it,” he said.

Richard Lochhead, cabinet secretary for Rural Affairs & the Environment, said the fortnight would also deliver a boost to the economy.

“This is especially true as we look towards the opportunities available in 2014, from the Ryder Cup and the Year of the Homecoming to the Commonwealth Games,” Lochhead said.

The fortnight runs until 16 September.
