The acquisition of Uniq has helped Greencore report a 45% jump in full-year sales to £1.16bn.

Excluding the Uniq acquisition last autumn and other deals, the convenience food manufacturer also reported strong sales growth of 7.7%.

Its operating profits during the period rose 37.3% to £70.7m and margins remained around the 6% mark.

Greencore said it had been a “breakthrough year” for the company. “The acquisition of Uniq has reshaped the performance, scale and long-term prospects of our group,” said Greencore CEO Patrick Coveney.

“Despite increasingly challenging consumer conditions, little industry growth, and increasing levels of retailer competition, Greencore remains well positioned to deliver further progress in full-year 2013 and beyond.”

Greencore said the integration of the Uniq business was now largely completed.

“Greencore has delivered a strong result from its base synergies and completed the integration of Uniq, delivering synergies earlier than expected,” said Investec’s Nicola Mallard.
