The cost of a cup of tea is reportedly 75% cheaper than it was 30 years ago, tea experts have said.

In 1977, the average gross weekly wage of £68.70 would have bought 6,870 tea bags, but today's average weekly wage of £447 can buy 45,000 tea bags, according to reports in The Times.

The price of tea was being driven down because 2% too much tea was being produced, the reports added.
