Posh online fish business The Cornish Fishmonger has seen sales rocket after it rolled out software to automate its website.
Customer numbers have leapt from 2,000 to 10,000 since the system went live just before Christmas.
Prior to the rollout, staff manually entered order information, booked couriers and printed shipping labels. But the new website - which uses the Magento shopping cart integrated with a NetDespatch web platform - books overnight courier deliveries, prints shipping labels, tracks parcels and provides proof of delivery.
“With the increasing business we were seeing we had to automate the process,” said MD Robert Wing. “We rely on quality of service and the system allows us to process the orders quickly and ready them for despatch so they arrive with the customers by noon the next day.”
Wing said the new system was “incredibly cost-effective” and had saved “a huge amount of time”.
“Now we can handle large volumes of high-value orders simply,” he said. “It has also simplified things from a transport point of view with a direct, automated link from the online store to the courier service.”
