Wincanton has had its contract with WH Smith extended until 2017, building on the logistics company’s 20-year relationship with the retailer.

Wincanton said it would introduce new technologies to its fleet in order to reduce operational costs and cut carbon emissions.

“WH Smith is a business synonymous with astute cost management and innovation and our long, successful partnership is built upon aligning with these goals,” said Wincanton CEO Eric Born.

The three-year contract extension will see Wincanton handle distribution from Swindon, Dunstable and Birmingham and manage collaborative partners in the South West, North West and Scotland.
