A small apple and pear supplier has taken a Tesco award.
Simon Mount, from SS Mount in Canterbury, Kent, was named Grower of the Year in Tesco's inaugural award scheme after judges praised his produce's consistent high quality.
Runners up for the award were Alan Firmin from Linton, Kent and Charles Highwood from Cranbrook, Kent.
Steve Murrells, Tesco's fresh produce category director, said: "The Tesco Grower of the Year award is our way of rewarding dilligence and expertise."
Tesco said although the inaugural awards were aimed at small growers, it was considering opening it to all UK growers.
