Tesco has expanded its BWS teams with five new appointments.
The retailer has created the new position of BWS category format manager, with responsibility for heading up customer planning. The role is being filled by Emma Biggs, currently sales director at wine distributor Bibendum, who joins Tesco next month.
She will be joined in customer planning by Helen Johnston, who moves from her current role as buyer for fortified wines.
Tesco has also appointed Lindsay Chadwick, former head of purchasing for BWS at catering business Compass, as buying manager for fine wine. Also becoming part of Tesco’s wine team is James Mills, who joins Group Wine Sourcing as assistant buyer following 18 months as a graduate trainee buyer.
In another new role, the retailer has appointed Ben Kelly, previously manager of private client sales and B2B sales at Quintessentially Wine, as wine sales manager for its online Wine by the Case business.
“With these additional resources in the beer, Wine and Spirits teams, Tesco is better equipped to deliver a world-class offer, in a multi-channel market, to the broadest selection of customers,” said Tesco BWS category director Dan Jago.
