Tesco’s click & collect service is “back on track” after delays sparked anger among customers.

Two weeks ago, The Tesco Direct website buckled under the weight of orders during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, leading to two-day delays and a temporary halt to next-day deliveries.

But this week, Tesco told customers: “After a very busy Black Friday, we’ve been working around the clock, and all deliveries and click & collect are back on track.”

Tesco was not alone in experiencing delivery problems around Black Friday. Some M&S customers experienced a 10-day delay on deliveries, and online specialist Amazon reported problems with its next-day delivery service after Black Friday.

Courier firm Yodel was forced to apologise after some parcel collections were delayed by 48 hours because of the huge jump in seasonal sales. Some experts have warned the problems could dent customer faith in online.
