Tesco has made a raft of senior and middle management changes, including around 50 redundancies, as part of chief executive Philip Clarke’s plans to inject new digital skills into the business.
Among those leaving include Roger Fogg, chief executive of Tesco Mobile, and digital marketing director Ian Crook, who recently told businesses leaders of the difficulties Tesco was having in adapting to the online era.
New hirings include Paul Solly, recruited from Marks & Spencer, who is taking up an executive role as category director of Tesco’s home business, and Nomura retail analyst Nick Coulter, who is joining Tesco’s investor relations department.
The changes are concentrated on Tesco’s head office at Cheshunt and its base in Welwyn Garden City. They follow the recent arrival of multichannel director Robin Terrell, and the new MD of Tesco’s Blinkbox Music service Mark Bennett, formerly Sainsbury’s head of digital and cross-channel.
